One specific medical condition that can increase the risk of erectile dysfunction is a process called Atherosclerosis.
What this means is the process of deposition of plaques within arteries that causes hardening of those arteries and then can lead to reduced blood flow through those arteries. And when we talk about a erectile dysfunction, were talking about this process occurring within arteries or blood vessels that go to the penile tissues.
There are a number of conditions that are associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis. And these conditions include obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high fat diet. So, these are common conditions that exist in the United States. Something called Metabolic Syndrome, which involves obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Diabetes is another condition that will increase the risk of hardening of the arteries or atherosclerosis.
The end result, as far as the erectile dysfunction goes is that there is reduced blood flow through blood vessels. And this, then can cause directly erectile dysfunction.
