There are a number of factors which can contribute to erectile dysfunction.
Some of the ones that we talk about when you first come in to see your physician, you will be asked about various medications that you may be on, whether they're prescription or not.
You'll also be asked about your use of elicit substances or alcohol. Things such as marijuana or alcohol act as depressants to your body. And they can affect your ability to have erections and your ability to sustain those erections. And many patients who abuse alcohol or use a lot of marijuana, can have erectile dysfunction as a side effect of use of these products.
So, it's important if you use these and you have these types of problems with erections to talk to your physician about it, and see if there's something that can be done to help you reduce the use of these elicit substances. They may even direct you to community programs which may be available for addiction related issues. But it's important to remember that these products can lead to problems with erections.
