There are many treatments that are available for erectile dysfunction.

People often ask about various foods that can be eaten to enhance the sexual experience. On the market, there's nothing currently that we know of that directly increases your ability to have an erection. And historically, there are foods that are known to be aphrodisiacs. These will not directly cause an erection or enhance the ability to have an erection.

The mainstream therapies that we have for erectile dysfunction generally encompass use of medications such as Viagra, Levitra or Cialis. There are options of using injection therapies where compounds are injected directly into the penile tissues to facilitate an erection. And we have things such as vacuum devices, which help to increase blood flow to the penile tissues.

In general, we also know that obesity, high fat diets and things like that can increase your risk of erectile dysfunction. We do advise patients, especially patients who have a history of obesity, diabetes or high blood pressure that eating healthy is very important. This involves not having a high fat diet and not having a diet that's high in calories.

So, these patients should stongly consider a healthy diet and exercise to lose weight to reduce their risk of developing conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. That is also an area where appropriate diet, I think, may play an important factor in your ability to maintain normal erections throughout the course of your lifetime.
