Ashle: Hey everybody, it's Ashle and Henri.
Right now, in the Latin Fusion series, we're going to show you how to do a Funky Swing Step.
So, the Swing Step comes from Salsa, but we're going to show you how to do it funky.
First, we'll demonstrate it. Then, we go a step up, step up up, round step, and then a boom bah, boom bah, bah, bah, bada dada, bah, bah, bah, bah, bah, bada dada, boom, ba doom, and 5, 6, 7, 8. Yes. [laugh]
Let's break that down. We're going to show you just facing front. Then, we'll show you facing back. We'll teach you how to go in a circle with it.
So, with your basic step, you're going, left, tap, right, right tap, left, step, and you're going to swing that leg around, around as if you're trying to trip yourself, but don't. Come back, step, and we have a step, up, step, up, step, all the way around.
Let's just stop there before we get to the backroom.
Stepping again with the left, left, right, right, left, left, right, left, back.
Again, let's face away so you can follow along with us.
So, stepping again with the left. Left, right, right, left, left, swing, step, and OK.
Now, the difference when you do the swing step in Salsa, it feels very up here, very relaxed, very pretty. We're making it funky.
We're going to keep this rhythm in body of this, up and down, and jumping. [laugh] OK. You should really feel it in your center.
We're going to show you how to rotate as we step through. You're going to step left, right, right, left, step, left, right, you change directions here. Up, step, up, step around, change direction. Left, right, and right, left left, right, left, and a left, right and left, step around, and touch.
Henri:Yeah, to alter a step, every time you do it, you want to go, and 1, you step with the left first, but it's before you get on the 1. OK. We have to have that little funky thing happening and while we're turning quarter turns to the left.
For the guys, you do it a little more rough, you can do it Salsa, but at the end of the day it's all funky.
Ashle:Yes and even for the girls, because that's what's making it different than just latin, just the Salsa swing step, where you're very feminine. You get to play this time.
Yes. So, let's show you that with music.
Ashle:5, 6, 7, and a 1, 2, and 5, 6, 7, and a 1, 2, and 5, 6, 7, and a 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, and a 1, a 2, 5, 6, 7, and 1.
Henri:There was your,
Ashle:There you are, your Funky Swing Step.
