Hi, my name is Victor Sho and I’m going to show you how to lock.
So, we’re going to start off with the rhythm with locking, we call it the Tom and Jerry. So you basically have this rhythm that’s like an up and down rhythm and it’s like you're leading with your shoulders and then your head, shoulders and your head, shoulders and your head, shoulders and your head. And you want to do this so that you have this kind of like funky kind of like rhythm with your locking. Okay? So it’s a bounce to it. All right?
So now with some steps that we’re going to learn is like throwbacks. So your throwback is basically you’re going to keep your hands to your side like this, going to bring it up, hike your elbows up, and then you’re going to throw your arms back with a little lean back as well. So it’s going to be voom, and then as soon as you throw your arms back you bring your hands straight back down to your side. Okay? And if you can see, I’m still having this kind of like Tom and Jerry kind of like feel to it, because I’m going to come up throw it back, put it to the side, go down, come up, put it back, come up, put it back, put it to the side, throw it down. Okay?
And we can use this throwback, voom, like this, voom, ha, ha, ha, ha. Cool? That’s your throwback and then you have your locks. So your locks is basically just a freeze in moment where you lock it, some people lock where they sit into the hip. You kind of lean to the side, and they’re arm stays rounded. Okay?
Some guys lock with their hands fist or they keep it like relaxed. I like to find a happy medium, so lock, lock, lock, lock, lock. See I’m sitting into my hip and I’m locking my arms into this rounded position, ha, ha, ha. Okay? So now we’re going to do a throwback into a lock. Voom, ha, voom, ha, voom, ha.
So the last thing I’m going to show you is Uncle Sam points. Uncle Sam points is another form of, you know, another, you know, move that you would do in the locking style of dance whereas in your up and down motion your hands come from your chest and point. A lot of times when you’re pointing you try to lead out with the knee as well. Most of the times when you try to point you have a nice little lean with it. So it goes ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. So as you can see my Uncle Sam points is coming through my chest, voom, voom, voom, voom, voom, voom, voom.
And now we’re going to put this together and you can see how you can use it. So we go five, six, seven, throwback, lock, throwback, lock, Uncle Sam, Uncle Sam, Uncle Sam. A little slower, here we go. Throwback, lock, throwback, lock, Uncle Sam, Uncle Sam point, Uncle Sam point, Uncle Sam point, five, six, seven. And that’s how you lock.
