To do a Vertical Barrel Roll you want to start by chest hooping in your vertical plane. So we'll start with that. Make sure that your feet are hip distance apart, your knees are nice and soft, because that's going to give you the momentum to make the hoop continue. So we're going to actually start this chest hooping and then I will also demonstrate it shoulder hooping. So we've got a vertical chest hooping. Notice that I'm bending my knees to keep the hoop going.
And the most important thing to think about here is the downward motion causing the momentum. The downward motion is the momentum for the hoop to go around your body. So downward, down, down, down. Now when that downward motion happens, you're going to rotate your body all the way around in a circle, keeping your chest nice and low. So down, down, down, rotate, chest up, and then back down. All of this happens pretty quickly, so it might be a good idea to practice doing that without the hoop a few times first.
So it would look like this. Down, down, down, up and over, down. Practice being able to do it quickly in one motion. Okay? So now let's try that with the hoop. So down, down, down, down, down, down, down, and turn. And that is your vertical barrel roll. With the shoulders inside, down, the downward motion is even more important. Down, down, down. A quick little note, it's important to turn the same direction that your hoop rotates. So that's how we do a Vertical Barrel Roll.
