How to Decelerate Correctly in Sprinting
Transcript
Hi, my name is Shane Paul Neil from City Coach Multisport. And I'll be talking about how to decelerate correctly from a sprint. Some of you think about sprinting, you think about starting from the blocks, accelerating, technique, and a myriad of other things.
Rarely do you think about how to actually stop your sprint. One of the worst things you can do is to decelerate quickly from a sprint, or come to a sudden stop. Doing so provides an enormous amount of pressure on your legs, and lower body, and possibly your back. And can result in pulled muscles, bone fractures, and a number of other issues. Whenever coming down from a sprint take 20 or 30 minutes to slowly bring yourself down to a stop. Doing this will elevate any pressure, and insure that you'll be able to go into your next race. And that's how decelerate quickly from a sprint.
