Sleep tips in babies are tough because you might not be
aware of what might be causing their difficulty in falling asleep. It's
important to learn cues of sleepiness in your baby such as if they're
rubbing their eyes or starting to yawn. This is the best time to put your
baby to sleep in their crib. They will learn to self-soothe themselves to
sleep and not require your constant presence to help them fall asleep,
especially if they wake up in the middle of the night.
Now you also have to be careful that there are not any medical disorders
that are contributing to the sleep fragmentation in your baby. A common
example of this is reflux. Reflux is very common in newborns and infants
because their esophagus is very short. This can cause pain and become
uncomfortable, especially if they're lying flat on their back.
So it's important to consult with your doctor to see if any medical
disorder, such as reflux, is contributing to sleep fragmentation. But in
general this is the best time to help your baby learn how to sleep well.
