Hi. My name is Alex Fell. I'm from Warrior Fitness Boot Camp here in New York City. Today I'm going to show you how to climb a rope without using your legs.
This is the rope that we have in our facility here in New York City. It's a 12-foot rope, freestanding, hanging from the ceiling. And what you want to do is you just want to grab that rope, and you're going to go hand over hand right up to the top without using your legs, only your upper body. Once you get to the top, what we have our clients do here is yell out a nice, loud, "Warrior," and they come on down. Okay. So when you land, you want to make sure you come down nice and easy. Land with a nice bend in the knees so you don't your legs and your knees take the brunt of the impact in the landing. And you have a nice, soft landing.
Okay. So what you want to do is just jump up. Move those hands at a rapid rate. Touch the top. Come back down. It's going to look like this. Up, pull, pull, pull, touch the top. Warrior. Come on down. Land nice and steady. A couple tips, when climbing a rope without your legs, you want to move at a very rapid rate, because once you get stopped, it's very hard to get started again. And another thing is, you don't want to lock out your arms completely. You want to keep them nice and bent. Keep your biceps and forearms engaged when using your arms to climb up the rope. And that's how you climb a rope without your legs.
