Hi. I'm Ruben Belliard from Warrior Fitness Boot Camp here in New York City, and today I'm going to show you how to do the side lunge. A side lunge is a great lower body exercise. It really works on the inside of your leg. So the first thing we want to do is step out to the right. We're going to step out to the right, but as you do that one of the key things you have to be aware of is don't let your toes point toward that direction.
You want to take a big step to whatever side you're going to go. Make sure your toes are facing or parallel to each other, your feet are parallel to each other. All right. Now we're going to slowly lunge down while you keep your opposite leg straight. Now the key that I tell people, hey, extend your arms out. That helps you keep your balance. You can go nice and low. If you don't, the tendency is to kind of just lean into it and bend your back, and not really get the full benefit of the side lunge. So you want to extend out. Go as low as you can go. Flexibility is going to dictate how low you can go. And then once you're done, explode right back to the start position up here. So again, as you step out, extend those arms out there. Keep that left leg straight. Go as low as you can go, hold it for a split second, and explode back to the side position, to the standing position. And that's how you do a side lunge.
