A Wiccan Rite of Dedication is in lieu of an initiation because you really need the help of other people to experience that in its full impact. But, you can undertake a ritual of dedication.
You'll find them-- there's one at the back of my book in witchcrafting. You'll find them online, you'll find them in other traditions but they're very important for somebody, especially somebody who's working alone. It's an opportunity for you to make a commitment.
One of the first things that I was taught by the priestess that I studied a long time ago was that when you make a promise, when a witch makes a promise, it must be kept. So, a self dedication ritual is a promise that you make to yourself. It's a promise to go in pursuit of your purpose. The reason that you're here.
It's a promise to go in pursuit of the sacred that lies within you and to seek it in the world around you which is incredibly challenging given the culture and the damaged world that we're now living in as a result of of that culture.
It's a commitment that you make. You make it to yourself. Nobody else is going to enforce it for you so, it require a certain amount of courage and self-discipline and self care and nourishment and devotion.
Which is why it's called a Rite of Self Dedication. You are pledging yourself to you future and to the fullness of your future. I can assure you that when you embark on this path it's a future that's full of the richness of the sacred and divine magic.
