Learn how to do a flying scissor heel hook from Team Radical MMA head coach Rene Dreifuss in this Howcast video.
All right guys now Chad is going to demonstrate a move which is very, very good at, which is the flying take down. And we can finish it with either the knee bar or the heel hook. Chad going to demonstrate the heel hook. Right? Thanks.
Chad: We’re going to start from a pommel clinch, and we’re going to use what’s called a to bring my opponent down to set up the takedown. OK?
So from this and neutral position I’m going to establish a overhook, coming over the arm, and touching my chest like so. OK?
Now, from here I’m just going to take a step back and my opponent down. To get me an angle for my takedown. Now what I’m going to do is the back leg that’s behind him is going to come in front.
The facing leg is going to come right my partner and sweep him out as I catch myself with my hand here. Here we go. And land.
Now, my top leg is going to come over. Hooking under, and I’m going to fall towards the foot. As I do so, as you can see here, come under the heel and establish a grip here. And as you see I can go into a heel hook position. Finishes, hold, and using my upper body, now my arms, to turn to the opposite direction here, like so.
Alright. Let’s do it again. OK, let’s do it again. A neutral pummel clinch. Establish a . This light comes up, and take down. Top leg comes under, fall to the foot and catch the heel. And using my upper body I’m going to very slowly turn over my shoulder .
Let’s go the other side.
That is a scissor. Lay it down to the heel.
