How to Do a Rolling Sleeper Guillotine MMA Submission

Learn how to do a rolling sleeper guillotine MMA submission from Team Radical MMA head coach Rene Dreifuss in this Howcast video.

All right, guys. Now I'm going to do another turtle attack. A lot of Brazilians are doing this in MMA right now. It's a sleeper guillotine done in a rolling So first I'm going to show you this regular sleeper guillotine, which I learned from watching Baret Yoshida. I don't know if he invented it, but he was the first person I ever saw doing it. It's a really awesome move, and he's of course a great grappler. Okay. So I'm going to show you the basic, and then I'm going to show the rolling variation. All right. The basic sleeper is a regular guillotine but you have the arm across. Okay. So it's like an arm in, but his arm is across his head like an upside down arm triangle.

It usually happens when I'm trying to take his back. Okay. But I can't. He's winning. All right. I can't take his back. I put my arm in here. I get the harness grip. I fall on his head and swing my leg over, and he taps. Now if he doesn't tap, I just sweep him over this way, or I can do the 100 percent. Pull him over here, and take the back. Okay. So that's the regular sleeper guillotine, which is basically a guillotine when you're trying to take the back. And you just have, it's like an upside down arm triangle. All right. Now one more time. I'm trying to take the back. I reach over his head, sit my leg here. This leg can be between his legs. It doesn't matter. Right. And I finish. Okay. Now let's go to the rolling variation. He's here attacking me just like the moves we just did. I can go ten finger. He's got his arm here. I can go anaconda or Peruvian. But watch. His arm comes all the way over here. So there's my chance. So I sprawl.

Get his arm over here. I pick him up. Okay. Harness grip. Sit. Roll. Right into the mount. Finish it. If you don't get to the mount, you just close your close your guard. You finish it right there. Okay. Extremely powerful tap. Okay. One more time. The idea is to get him in the mount, but if you don't and you wind up rolling to guard, it's not that bad, because he's so compromised with his arm over. Worse case scenario, you can hit an arm drag and take the back. Okay. One more time. Sprawl. His arm comes in. Harness grip. Come up. Sweep. He tapped right here. But we keep rolling. He tapped again. He pops his head out. Here. Guess what? Another sleeper. And that's the sleeper guillotine.
