In order to do an acid drop, you're going to want to lean back on your tail and let your board kind of kick out. Once your able to do that, you're going to be comfortable enough to feel like you're not about to fall down, go backwards. So you're going to land on your feet, your boards going to pop right into your hand. You're going to grab it with your right hand if you're goofy, and your going to grab it with your left hand if you're a regular skater. Now it's very important that once you do have it in your hand, you don't want to take too many steps, or even more than one step because you don't want to look too goofy or silly doing this trick. Like most foot plant tricks, they're not generally accepted. So you want to keep the stepping to a minimum. Once you do have the board in your hand, you're going to want to do a little bit of a swing. Think about a pendulum, coming back towards you.
Once it comes back towards you, you're going to have to jump high enough to get back on the board. So, if you keep the board low, you're going to not have to jump nearly as high. If you toss the board up real nice and high, you're going to have to suck your knees up a little bit more in order to land on the board. Now, some people have trouble with this trick mainly with getting the board in the hand, for starters. So, if you can, try not to roll at all. Just kick the board out with your feet. You're going to toss it back from your back foot, which is going to be on the tail. You're going to kick it out and grab it with your hand. You want to maybe do a little bit of a kick with your front foot in order to ensure that the board ends up in your front hand. And that's how you do an acid drop.
