How to Do a Cheater's Primo on a Skateboard

Learn how to do a cheater's primo from competitive skateboarder Nate Cohen in this Howcast skateboarding video.

We call it the cheaters' primo because it's not generally the normal way of getting it into a primo. Usually you'd have both feet directly on the board and flip it over, so that way you end up directly over the trucks. With this trick, we're going to be putting our foot on the ground. So it's a bit of a cheat. What we're going to do is we're going to put our feet in an L shape. We're going to have our back foot on the tail, hanging off the edge just so slightly. We're going to put our front foot, our right foot if you're goofy, over the edge, on the wheel.

We're going to push it over, just so we have enough leverage. Once it gets knocked over, you're going to hop up off the ground and put your second foot on top of the wheel. Once you're up there, you can take some time to move around a little bit, either backwards or forward, or side to side. What you want to do, though, is you want to kick out. Make sure you don't lean too far back. Pretend you're just doing a gentle kick forward, and landing towards te ground. Now some people have a difficult time doing this trick because their trucks are not long enough to meet the edge of the board. So they end up being on an angle, which makes it for a very silly time. Now, what you do want to do is make sure that your wheels do meet the edge of your board, so that you can have a nice level surface in order to do this trick. And that's how you do the cheaters' primo.
