There's a few ways you can fall. You can either just go for it, rip it, and mess yourself up, or you can be smart about it.
First and foremost, you want to protect your brain, your face. Mom would be kind of upset if you messed that up. Wouldn't she?
So really important, always put your hands out in front of you to break your fall. Try and make sure your face doesn't end up falling through your arms so that way when you hit the ground, your face doesn't slam into it.
Also, there's a few ways that you can do it so that you can scrub off a bit of the momentum. That's kind of by landing on your butt and going for a little bit of a roll. When I'm teaching kids we call it the Action Hero Roll because it sounds cooler that way.
It's really simple. You kind of land on your butt, turn over to your elbows and just brush off some speed like that.
Now lastly, if you're going backwards and you feel like you're leveling out, you're in mid-air and you're about to land, you want to land with your elbows out like this but you want to be gentle on the wrists.
So try and gently lower your body down to the ground, sit down on your butt, try not to snap your elbows back too hard because that will be how you dislocate your shoulder. So you want to take it nice and easy. Lower yourself back down to the ground.
Also, lastly, if you're falling backwards, you're worried about hitting your noggin, squeeze up tight, put both hands over your head if you can, cover your skull, and make sure that you're going to protect yourself as much as possible.
And that's how you fall.
