I get asked a lot about microdermabrasion and how it could help with acne scars. The short answer is that it totally helps. Microdermabrasion is a method of exfoliation with a machine that gently sloughs off dead skin cells which in turn will stimulate collagen production. So how does that help with scaring? It helps because you want that collagen production. You want to stimulate that, so the body can produce fresh, healthy skin. It will eventually get rid all of the scarred, dead skin on the surface.
You don't want to over do it. I wouldn't do it once a week, or anything like that. I would more do it once a month with your facial. You don't want to allow someone to dig too deeply with the microdermabrasion wand. You want a nice, vigorous exfoliation. If you do that and couple it with exfoliation at home your acne scars are going to go away. That's what everybody wants.
