Hello, I'm Charles. We're in Louis Purple in New York, and we're here to talk about the common mistakes that men do when wearing suits. So let's talk a little bit about the fit first of all. The first way to not wear a suit properly is to not have your jacket length or the jacket or coat overly long. It might end up looking a little sloppy, and it's not very flattering for your silhouette, I would say. So another simple mistake to avoid is the break on your trousers, the way it breaks on your shoe. You want to avoid having too much break. If you have too much break, that generally means that your pants are too long, and you want to have just the slightest break, even in a conservative environment. I think the time where people used to have an endless amount of fabric covering their shoe and dragging on the floor is kind of over.
So mind your break. Just go for a slight amount of break. And when wearing your jacket, never button all the buttons of your jacket at once, whether you're wearing a two-button or a three-button. You always leave the bottom button undone. Another simple mistake to avoid is mix and matching too many patterns. If you're not really sure of what you're doing, you can avoid a lot of mistakes. As you start to get a feel for dressing up and grooming and you experiment, I'm sure you'll get a hold of it.
A fashion mistake that I saw again a few days ago, and it's pretty funny, is people feeling that there is a need to wear a belt when they're already wearing suspenders. Wearing a belt and suspenders at the same time is a little bit like wearing a tie and a bow tie at the same time. So why would you want to do that? It kind of defeats the purpose. So just make up your mind. Suspenders look great with any outfit, as long as you're willing to pull it off. But it's either or, the belt or the suspenders. So just remember these few tips, and you'll be able to groom very well in all circumstances.
