I’m going to tell you a little bit about pear shaped diamonds. Pear shaped are brilliant cut diamonds, and as you can see it’s pointed at one end, and round on the other like a teardrop shape.
It’s important not to compromise when purchasing this stone for two reasons. One is that the cut of the pear sometimes has what we call a bow tie effect which is a little dark spot in the center of the stone that looks like a bow tie. Sometimes this is just unavoidable, but make sure you choose a stone that doesn’t not have a visible bow tie, like this beautiful diamond.
Also you want to make sure that what we call the shoulders, the rounded part of the stone is nice, and even. You want the gentle sloping arc.
But whichever you choose, it’s all about personal preference. Some may like a long and thin pear shape, some people may like a wide, and short pear shape. It’s really all about what’s pleasing to you, and what looks good on the hand of the recepient.
