Rob: So the question a lot of people have been asking is, “Will my old headset work on the PS4?” The headset that used with the PS3. And, the answer is kind of complicated. It’s yes, no and maybe. So, officially the Playstation 4 does not support third-party headsets from last generation. So Sony’s not prepared to support any of those problems that you might have trying to get it to work.
The cool thing is that people have been testing their old headsets, and to a varying degree, some of them do actually work. And these are ranging from Turtle Beach headsets, to Astro headsets, to Logitech headsets. Some will work, some won’t. It’s a sort of thing where you’re going to have to just, sort of, Google your head set and see if people have tested to work, or not. And so, your mileage may vary depending on what you own.
The good thing is, even if it doesn’t work, the Playstation 4 actually comes bundled with a headset. It’s not the greatest headset, it just like, one mono ear bud that has a microphone attached to it. So even if day one, your headset’s not working and you need to find a replacement, you’ll have something there to hold you over until you end up getting it. So will your old headset work on a Playstation 4? I don’t really know. There’s no harm in just plugging it in and trying. You’re not going to break your Playstation, giving it a shot. It’s possible, it’s also possible that it won’t. Good luck.
