Transcript

Hello. I am Ellen Goldberg and I welcome you to this tarot moment from the School of Oracles. This segment is to introduce the suit of pentacles. The tarot has four suits: wands, cups, swords, and pentacles. The wands being vitality and beginning, the cups having to do with emotions, psychic events, the swords with truth, identity, and process and change, and here, we come to the suit of Earth: pentacles. Results.

Pentacles are all about life on the Earth plain. They are about material manifestation. When there are many pentacles in a reading, you know they are interested in what has actually manifesting in your life. Its also about the world as a path to spirit. Because pentacles are not just Earth; they represent a philosophy, that everything in this world, in this material world, is imbued with spirit. Some people call pentacles a coin or a disc. You will hear them describe variously by different taroists and in different books, but I prefer the name pentacles, and you see that the title pentacle, is on the card, and the pentacle is not just a coin, it is a magical symbol of Earth. Notice the pentagram, the symbol of man, on the pentacle.

The pentacles have a season; that season is winter and they have a direction; that direction is North. Pentacles are not just the material ground that we walk on; they also represent home and our most personal home, the home of our spirit and soul, our body. So, again, when there are many pentacles in a reading, they could equally be talking about manifestation of some project, your own body, your home, the results and they also deal with work. Wands deal with work also, but in an entrepreneurial sense. Pentacles deal with work in the idea of things that are made and sold. I hope you have enjoyed this introduction to the pentacles and I hope to see you soon again. Bye for now.
